What is a Cyclone?

A tropical cyclone is a rotating, organised system of clouds and thunderstorms that originates over tropical or subtropical waters and has a closed low-level circulation. Tropical cyclones rotate counterclockwise in the Northern Hemisphere and clockwise in the southern hemisphere accompanied with strong winds, torrential rains that result in widespread flash flooding and river flooding. Cyclone season in Fiji is from November to April every year.
