Key Points
- Roles and responsibilities of service providers at all levels must be defined and understood by all PHC Service providers.
- It is also necessary to identify, map and harmonize a database of services available in the clinic catchment area which are in line with the comprehensive care services.
- The information available in the database will facilitate follow up and referral to services at different levels.
- Such services are not limited to clinical based services and could include services such as institutions providing nutrition, family planning, micro-finance, educational bursaries, disability services, WASH, Gender Based Violence, Child Protection and Education.
- Through the supportive supervision structures of the health management teams (MAs and DPNOs, respectively), equitable distribution of services and gaps in service provision will be identified and addressed through engagement with relevant government departments.
